How Can CBD Help Me?

The medical marijuana program in Kentucky is forming. Since this process can be slow, we want to do some educating during this time so you know that you want to get your medical marijuana card with us!

Now that we have discussed what CBD is and how it works in the body, we are going to dive into how exactly CBD can help you!

CBD Can Relieve Anxiety

Anxiety is the number one condition that CBD is used for. According to the Anxiety and Depression Association of America, over 40 million people over 18 in the U.S. have anxiety and with the pandemic, this number is growing every day. Thankfully there actually is a lot of research on how CBD can help anxiety!

There has been research that shows how CBD can help treat anxiety issues. In the past CBD research has been in the preclinical stages or used animal testing. But today we are seeing more and more research using people in clients studies. Even though there is a tone of anecdotal evidence that CBD aids anxiety, it is nice to have that backed up by the research too!

A recent study performed in 2019 looked at 37 teenagers that were diagnosed with social anxiety disorder (SAD). They were separated into two groups, one receiving CBD oil and one receiving a placebo every day for four weeks. After the four weeks, the study showed that those who took the CBD oil saw a major reduction in their SAD symptoms. This study went even further and showed that CBD oil actually treated SAD symptoms equally as well as the traditional prescription medication used to treat SAD!

There was another exciting study that was done recently in a mental health facility in Colorado with 47 patients who had anxiety. Over three months, a majority of these patients were given CBD treatment every day. Within the first month alone, 79.2% of patients saw a major improvement in their anxiety!

Pain Can Be Reduced By CBD

Chronic is the most common medical condition that people use medical marijuana for. This is not only due to the large amount of people struggling with this condition but also because it works!

Harvard Medical School led a comprehensive review of 28 studies that looked at the effectiveness of marijuana on the treatment of pain. The intensive review concluded that marijuana is an effective treatment for pain proven by high quality research. This review showed that symptoms of chronic pain and neuropathic pain were both significantly improved with medical marijuana treatment!

Another study by the University of Michigan found that medical marijuana not only improved the quality of life for patients with chronic pain but also reduced their use of opioids by an average of 64%!

The effects of CBD are so profound for chronic pain because CBD is a natural pain reliever and anti-inflammatory.

CBD Can Help You Sleep Better

Getting a good night's rest is one of the best things you can do to help your medical condition. If you can’t sleep, you can’t heal so sleep is integral.

Another way you can think about the connection between CBD and sleep is to instead think about what is keeping you awake at night. If chronic pain is keeping you up, CBD can soothe that. If nightmares from PTSD are making you afraid to close your eyes at night, CBD helps ease that fear and anxiety. CBD can help you sleep because it is first aiding your medical condition which in turn can help you sleep better!

Takeaways. . .

You can only purchase hemp CBD in Kentucky because it is federally legal. You cannot yet purchase cannabis CBD which is much more effective since there is not a medical marijuana program yet in the state.
